Plan Your Own Event
You can take virtually any event or activity and turn it into a way to raise awareness or money for people in the Congo. Athletic events, bake sales, bowling nights, movie nights or happy hours can all be excellent opportunities to get your community involved in our efforts.

Here are a few ideas to get you started, but the possibilities are endless!

In Your Community
  • Organize a fundraiser in your community. This can be a Run For Congo Women, a BBQ, bake sale, or any other event you dream up that will teach people about the Congo.

  • Host a screening of "King Leopold's Ghost" at your school, home, or any other local venue.

  • Write to the local newspaper about what's happening in the Congo and how it is all of our responsibilities to help.

  • Host a mini-book club reading of "King Leopold's Ghost" or "In the Footsteps of Mr. Kurtz." After your club discussion, give a presentation at your local library.

Political Action
  • Speak Up: Email a letter to your countries government urging them to support peace and humanitarian projects in the Congo.

Just for Students
  • Be a representative at your campus for the Congo Global Action Student Movement, a growing grassroots coalition of campuses committed to participating in political action for an end to the crisis. For details and suggestions for chapter activities, email us at: drc.coalition@yahoo.com

  • Partner your school with a school in the Congo, we have connections to several schools in the Congo, email us at: drc.coalition@yahoo.com if you'd like more information.

Faith Communities
  • Use the Congo Mobilizers Toolkit, which includes a short documentary on the conflict, written resources, sample lectures, artwork, Bible studies, and a guide for effective advocacy. To get your copy, drc.coalition@yahoo.com

  • Download a Congo Faith & Action Kit: Email us to get the Africa Faith and Justice Network's Congo Faith & Action Tool Kit and organize your faith community to pray and act for peace.

Fundraise
  • Raise funds any way you can, or just donate, to support the work of any of the organizations listed as sponsors of an event or members of Congo Global Action.
